По опыту Томаса Платтера, посетившего Ричмонд вместе со своими друзьями в октябре 1599 года, для такой поездки из Лондона требовалось не более, чем полдня в карете. Он пишет: «…нас пригласили во дворец на ланч. Однако мы боялись, что встреча затянется, и мы не успеем вернуться в Лондон в тот же день, как планировали.
