Основные события афинской истории

Ок. 4000 г. до н. э. – Поселение каменного века на Акрополе.

XIV—XIII вв. до н. э. – Поселение микенской культуры. Дворец и укрепления на Акрополе.

Ок. 620 г. до н. э. – Аристократические законы Дракона.

Ок. 594 г. до н. э. – Экономические и политические реформы Солона.

1687 г. – Войска венецианцев во главе с Морозини осаждают и занимают Афины. Парфенон, где был устроен турецкий пороховой склад, взрывается от попадания снаряда.

1916 г. – Греция разделяется на роялистов и венизелистов в вопросе вступления в войну. Англо-французские силы оккупируют часть Афин. Венизелистская Греция вступает в Антанту.

1919 г. – Май. Греческие военные силы высаживаются в Смирне в составе союзных сил, наступающих на Малую Азию.

1922 г. Август—сентябрь. – Греческая армия отступает из Малой Азии. Греческие беженцы из Малой Азии прибывают в Афины и Салоники.

1923 г. – Лозаннская конвенция обеспечивает принудительный обмен населением между Грецией и Турцией. Поток беженцев растет.

1924 г. – Греция провозглашает республику.

1935 г. – Восстановление монархии.

1936 г. – Диктатор Иоаннис Метаксас. Режим 4 августа.

1941 г. – Немецкие войска входят в Грецию, оккупируют Афины. Зимний голод.

1944 г. Октябрь. – Освобождение Афин.

Декабрь. Военная конфронтация между греческой Народно – освободительной армией (ЭААС) и британскими войсками. Черчилль приезжает в Афины. Архиепископ Дамаскин становится регентом.

1946 г. – После плебисцита в Грецию возвращается Георг II.

1946—1949 гг. – Гражданская война.

1947 г. – Смерть короля Георга. Королем становится Павел.

1964 г. – Смерть короля Павла. Ему наследует Константин II.

1967 г. 21 апреля. – Военный переворот, правление хунты «черных полковников». Попытка короля Константина восстановить законную власть терпит неудачу, и он покидает страну.

1973 г. 17 ноября. – Жестоко подавлено восстание студентов Афинского политехникума. В память этого события террористическая «Группа 17» взяла свое название.

1974 г. – Президент Кипра Макариос смещен греческим режимом. Турецкие войска оккупировали северный Кипр. Коллапс греческой хунты. В июле Константин Караманлис возвращается из Парижа на должность премьер-министра.

В декабре после плебисцита упразднена монархия.

1980 г. – Караманлис становится президентом.

1981 г. – Андреас Папандреу (ПАСОК – Всегреческое социалистическое движение) становится премьер-министром.

2000 г. – Открывается афинское метро. Британский военный атташе убит «Группой 17».

2001 г. – Недалеко от Спаты открыт новый Афинский аэропорт.

2002 г. – Арестованы и отданы под суд члены «Группы 17».

2003 г. Декабрь. – Осуждены члены «Группы 17».

2004 г. 13 августа. – Олимпийские игры в Афинах.
