“Good girl, that’s it,” Kiahn murmurs again, as if he can hear my aroused mind-babble. His hand movements start to pick up speed, and his palm starts rubbing against my clit in magnificent, firm circles, delivering such a divine pressure, I think I’m going to burst.

I can feel the tension inside me twist, and twist, like a wind-up toy ready to be let loose. I grip the ledge of the balcony so tight, it feels like I’ll never let go.

“If you come a step closer, I’ll break your horns off with my bare hands!” Kiahn barks all of a sudden, his head jerking to the side above me. But his hand never stops between my legs – he doesn’t even pause for a heartbeat.

My brows knit together, my mind clouded in a fog of near-orgasm pleasure.

Reality blows that cloud away rather abruptly when I hear more than one person answer, “yes, my prince.”

Oh shit! We’re not alone?!

I try to whip my head to the side to peer around Kiahn’s big body, but his reflexes are so fast, the way he grips my jaw in an instant to keep me in place makes me gasp. “No, little female,” he murmurs in a soft yet raspy voice just for me. “Just ignore them. I’ll make sure they can’t see you.”

“But-”

“I need you to come on my hand, Niska. I won’t be able to leave you alone until you do, so have mercy on me, woman, and let me finish.”

I swallow, my whole body alight with a fire that I don’t want to put out. “O-ok,” I nod my head.

Kiahn growls and pushes his hips into me, trapping my body and his own hand between his big frame and the balcony. “Fuck, the way you trust me is so fucking intoxicating to me, Niska. I’m going to put the best fucking bride collar on you, and provide you with everything you’ve ever desired.” I mewl as Kiahn’s movements become even more rough. “Will you tell me anything you want, so I can be sure you have it? Will you let me take care of you?”

I nod my head for Kiahn, but I’m feeling so gorgeously overwhelmed with all the sensations, I can barely stay standing. Not that I think that Kiahn would ever let me fall, but I can’t even be sure if his body is completely shielding me from the view of the others who are here. Where are they, even? Are they still there? Standing a few paces away, waiting until their prince finishes making me come?

Oh, God, the thought is enough to push me over the edge. “I’m gonna-” my words are smothered by a big, warm hand clamping down over my mouth as he continues fucking me with his fingers. My whole body is pulled taut like a harp string that he keeps plucking, playing me like a sheet of blissful music.

“Shh-shh,” Kiahn coos quietly as I’m still reeling from my high. Then, he removes his hand from between my thighs, and promptly shoves his fingers into his mouth. “Oh, fuck that’s good,” he groans around his fingers, before straightening like it was nothing at all.

I turn to face him just as he’s un-tucking his shirt and letting the soft, flowing material drape over his crotch, concealing a sizable bulge and a considerable wet patch.

Jesus.

“Well, what is it?” he barks, tilting his head only slightly to indicate that he’s using that abrupt tone with his men, and not me. But those intense eyes stay firmly fixed on mine as he speaks. “It had better be important to warrant interrupting your prince seeing to his bride’s needs.”

There’s silence behind him and I dare to sneak a peek around his bicep. There are three Xaviann guys dressed like they’re guards or something similar. They glance at each other anxiously before one decides to step up and speak. “Y-yes, Prince Kiahn. I-it’s just we have been sent to tell you that… uh-” the guard guy looks to his peers for help.

“For Goddesses sake, spit it out,” Kiahn sighs, but he already seems disinterested as his fingers start playing with the ends of my hair. “Did Aunt Zalora already demand a ball to present my bride to my people tonight?” One corner of his mouth lifts and the soft look in his eye makes it seem like he wouldn’t think that was a bad idea at all.

“No, Prince Kiahn,” a different guard from before says. “We came to report word that your father is coming.”

And with that, Kiahn freezes, his half-smile sliding clean off his face.

Chapter 25 – Kiahn

It takes maybe two brisk interrogations of servants to ascertain the whereabouts of Vel, my brothers and the other humans. I would say that Niska trails behind me, but in truth, I stupidly grip her hand tightly as I storm ahead, practically dragging her along in my wake. I slow after her first stumble, reminding myself that she is human, with human-length legs, and could not possibly keep up with my hurried Xaviann gait.

Just as she’s assuring me that she’s fine and didn’t actually fall, I hear the voices of my idiot brothers. They are just up ahead, in the portrait room, where I’ve no doubt that Vel is boring Lois and Jaya with the various historical figures of my principality.

Sure enough, when we halt at the threshold, I catch the tail-end of Vel regaling the women about the last of this regions princes to possess a very strong and dangerous Bloodline Venom – one with the power to bring instant death.

“Why is father coming to visit the principality?”

All eyes turn to me, but it’s Vel that speaks up when she asks, “what do you mean?”

“Did you tell someone from the capital about my contract with Niska?” I ask, not missing the way Vel’s gaze drops to where I’m still holding my little human’s hand. I do not let go. Instead, I give it a light squeeze.

“What?” she says, looking truly perplexed. Vel is good at putting on a facade. When we were young together, she used to quite easily trick me into playing various childish games with her, claiming that Zann and Az had refused. They hadn’t, of course, and my cousin had managed to run rings around us all in this palace as a small girl.

Something tells me she is not pretending now, though, as she steps forward with concern on her features. “I only told my club, Kiahn, I promise. When will he be here?”

I take in a large breath through my nose and let it out again. “He will arrive any moment now.”

My brothers and Vel know that can’t mean anything good. If my father is arriving with such short notice, it means he’s not giving us sufficient time to prepare to receive him as king, which means this little visit is not an official one, and he doesn’t really want the people to know he’s here. He probably doesn’t even want them to know he’s left the capital.

“Is that bad?” Niska asks from beside me.

The concern in her voice bothers me, so I turn to her, gently cupping her small, human face in my hand. “No. Not for you. You have nothing to worry over – ever.”

Fuck, I wish I could rewind time. I would go back to when I’d had her moaning and panting up on the royal balcony, my hand stuffed down her undergarments, playing with her needy little cunt. I’d return to that moment, and I’d stay there.

Slight movement catches my eye at the periphery of my vision. It’s Zann. He’s trying to sneak away through one of the doors that connects to the servant’s walkways. “Where are you going?” I growl, stepping into the room now. My brother’s shoulders hitch as he freezes on the spot.

Quickly regaining that air of charm and ease he’s perfected over the years, my brother turns, an affable smile already placed on his irritating face. “Just felt like someone should probably go and check that the king’s chambers are ready to receive father-dearest, the kitchens have his favorite foods, etcetera, etcetera.”

I narrow my eyes at him.

“Oh, no need for any of that.”

That voice is behind me, and it makes me somehow stand taller, straighter. Makes my jaw tick. Makes me turn and try to tuck my Niska behind my larger frame.

“Your Majesty,” Vel falls into a perfect curtsy as my father enters the room. His hands are clasped at his back, his intricately embroidered robes trailing along behind him, complete with a trim of glowing black ‘star-feathers’ the people of the capital are always sporting. Two of his security detail melt into the room, following him like shadows. My brothers and I bow our heads like we have done all our lives, and I can’t help but tug Niska a little behind me where I’m still clasping her hand. I’d like to just outright step in front of her to shield her completely, but that would likely attract more notice than anything else.

“Sons,” my father acknowledges my brothers and I with a nod of his head. “It has been a long while since last we met in person.”

It’s true. We avoid going to the capital if we can help it, and it has been almost five years since my father’s last official visit to the Northern Principality. With my jaw tense, I watch as he takes us in, his gaze briefly dusting over Niska at first, only to zoom back over to her, blinking like he cannot grasp what he is seeing. He only seems to notice Lois and Jaya in that moment, too.

His brow furrows. And those furrows deepen when his eyes trace down to where I am still holding Niska’s hand in my own, no doubt wondering why a female would allow such a thing. My father’s bejeweled ear twitches as he seems to be trying to make sense of what he is seeing.

Which makes me think he is not here to oppose my breeding contract with Niska.

“Father,” I say, bowing my head once more as I step forward. “I would like for you to meet our guests, the humans, Lois, Jaya,” I say, indicating to each female with an outstretched palm, “and my bride, Niska.”

Stepping aside to allow my father his first unimpeded view of my female, my gaze can’t help but to gravitate to Niska, too. It is like the act of introducing her prompts me to take her in again, as if it were the first time.

And she is beautiful.

I do not even care that she is so small and has no horns. Her smile is like a shower of shooting stars and twice as stunning.

She is magnificent, and I can’t help but feel great pride in the fact that she has entered a contract with me.

I can hardly believe that she lets me touch her, invites me to ‘cuddles’, and will permit me to breed her precious little cu-

Someone’s words cut through the obsessive fog that had clouded my mind while I stared at my Niska.

Turning away, it is like my head had just resurfaced above water, and I come to realize it wasn’t just ‘someone’ trying to talk to me while I had ignored everyone else in the room except for her.

It was my father.

The king.

Who is now looking at me expectantly like he’d just asked a question.

“Uh…”

Luckily for me, Vel has her wits about her and steps in to supply, “Prince Kiahn and Niska met at Moon’s Rest Station where we had stopped on our way back from our visit to the Queens of Zelixi to discuss trade.” She smiles and clutches her tablet to her chest. My father then does that thing he does so well, which is to say nothing at all, prompting the other person to fill in the silence. “They… they hit it off. Niska and her friends were looking for somewhere new to live, and the prince is now ready for contracts so…”

Niska and her friends start nodding their heads with smiles plastered on their faces, clearly trying to appease my father. He treats them to a patronizing smile of his own – a weak thing that a spring breeze could blow from his face.

The irritating arrogance of the male who sired me has my teeth clenching together.

My father snorts softly from his nose, causing the feather trim by his jaw to move with the gust off his breath. The glowing spots seem to stir too, lighting up in pink, blues and greens. “So this means you will all finally start entertaining contracts with the females I have been suggesting, then?” he asks, looking at me and my brothers, our height meaning that his focus skims right across the heads of the human women like they weren’t even here.

There’s a beat or two of silence, and within that silence, I blanch. I haven’t even gotten Niska her collar yet, and my father is already thinking about lining up the next contract? I open my mouth to protest without really knowing what I was about to say, but Az interrupts with his mumbled; “well, actually… I was kinda thinking…” his hands demurely gesture toward Lois as he talks, but he’s not really looking at her.

“Me?!” Lois yelps, putting a palm to her chest as she looks up at Az like he’d sprouted feathered wings and a tail. “No. That’s not happening. I’m not having anyone’s babies, let alone a huge guy like you, so don’t get any funny ideas,” she says, shaking her head.

“But-”

Whatever Az was going to say in protest gets cut off when my father turns to Zann – Zann, who once again seems to be trying to covertly back out of the room and is about three steps away from using the servant’s door again.

“And what about you, Zannador?” my father asks, making my brother freeze on the spot.

“Oh, I don’t think I’m quite ready yet for-”

“But you’re ready enough to visit the capital and mate in the flesh with Senator Glex’s daughter?”

I blink at my father. He’s wearing a calm, nonchalant look on his face, when he is clearly anything but.

“Shit,” Zann mutters quietly, wincing at the accusation – an accusation that must be true for my father to make the journey all the way here himself to ask my brother this very question.

I’m going to fucking kill him.

“Yes,” my father continues, “‘shit,’ indeed.” He walks forward, his hands still clasped behind his back as he circles a now nervous-looking Zann. “Tell me… what ‘the fuck’ were you thinking, Zannador? Enlighten me. You, of all people should have-”

My father’s bodyguards act so fast, I hardly have time to register they’d even moved until they’re already holding my brother back.

You ‘of all people’…

I growl low in my belly as I do step in front of my Niska now. Is my father seriously implying that my brother’s conception is what killed our mother? Is he suggesting that Zann is at fault in any way for that? When it was him that kept coming back to her for another contract before he finally sank his fangs into her flesh and bonded her with his venom?

My father says nothing, but he stands there, his chin tipped up, waiting. Waiting for Zann to challenge him, waiting for me to challenge him – waiting for anything to happen that lets him put us in our place.

“Zeelix?”

It had been my Aunt’s voice, the uncertain sound of her using my father’s first name without his title accompanied by the tap of her cane butting against the polished hardwood floor. Aunt Zalora has a complicated relationship with the king. But he never corrects her, not once. I remember overhearing them having blazing rows after he accidentally bonded my mother to him. She was furious – and he allowed her to be. I think she might be the only one in the whole of my father’s territories that he allows to be so familiar with his name.

My father stiffens when he hears her, but as he turns, I can see the challenge in his smile melt. It’s replaced by a softness that I can’t read. “Zalora,” he says, bowing his head in greeting as she stands at the threshold of the doorway, observing the scene before her.

“We were not prior informed of your visit,” she clips, lifting her chin. “This is most irregular.”

There’s a moment where we all know that if my aunt were anyone else, her challenge and demeanor would have been met with the king’s anger. I brace for it,even, readying myself to try and deflect the conversation, distract him away from her. But, the anger doesn’t come. Instead, the corner of his lip lifts ever so slightly as if he’s pleased by her lack of airs and graces.

“Yes, well,” my father chuckles, turning his body toward my aunt now, but glancing back at my brothers and I. “One of my idiot sons has surpassed himself in his idiocy,” he quips, giving a fraction of a nod to his security detail. In turn, they allow Zann to shrug out of their hold. My brother glares at them both while dusting off their touch from his shirtsleeves.

My aunt’s smile is tight. “Well, why don’t you accompany me to her rooms and you can tell me all about it.”

My father nods, his shoulders relaxing as he lets out a breath. “Yes, please, Zalora, that would be most welcome.”

We watch them go, my father offering his arm to my aunt. She takes it, but issues the mother of all warning glares over her shoulder aimed at Zann before they disappear, trailed by his security as they walk to my mother’s old chambers. The rooms have mostly been left alone. We painted over the crazed etchings of her madness – the million drawings of my father’s face, the words he’d told her repeated, and repeated, and repeated in blocks that filled walls. But her things are still there. Her hairbrush. Her night gowns. Her horncaps. They are a much more sanitized version of her chambers now. My aunt visits them when she wants to ‘talk’ to her sister. I have only been there once. They are a stark reminder of what happens when males like me lose control.

My gaze snaps back to my idiot brother, and I don’t even have to say anything – he already looks chagrined. My jaw ticks nonetheless.

“In my defense, I made sure she had a really good time,” the idiot says, lifting his palms as if that would placate me.

“You stupid fucking geliklik! What the fuck were you-”

As soon as I’d launched myself at him, Az is in front of me, tackling my onward motion and stopping me from advancing. Vel is in the middle of us, too.

“Look, look, look,” Zann repeats, his hands up in surrender as he tries to get me to calm down. He should be thankful he’s out of my reach. “She asked me to show her what it was like. Xoe is my friend!”

“You don’t fuck your friends, Zann! You could have bitten her for fuck’s sake! You could have just given her your permission like a sane person!”

“She was scared, alright?!” Zann shouts back at me. “She’s got her first contract coming up and she trusted me to show her what it would be like. Permissions don’t show you shit, Kiahn, c’mon. You know that.”

I snort a short breath from my nose and shrug out of Az’s hold. He keeps his hand on my chest, giving me a look that asks if I’m going to try and launch myself at our youngest brother again. I shake my head minutely, but continue to glare at Zann.

“I’ve known Xoe for years.” Zann continues, spearing his fingers through his hair. “She approached me with this, Kiahn, not the other way around, and I had my reservations. But no one else she knew or trusted would be as willing as me to take the bite suppressants.”

I tip my face up to the ceiling, closing my eyes as I let out a long, weary sigh.

“She asked me,” he repeats.

“Oh, and I suppose you got nothing out of this, huh?”

Zann rubs at his horn, his gaze focusing on nothing at all as he seems to conjure the memory in question. “It was all a bit weird, actually. Not bad. But…” he shrugs and gives me that boyish grin that has gotten him out of so many questionable situations before. “… well, I don’t normally know the female so well before we… you know.”

Of course he doesn’t. He’s the one that flits here, there and everywhere to meet new women of every different species. It occurs to me then, that this probably happened a few months ago when he’s suddenly made a trip to the capital without warning or much explanation. I groan and scrub my hands down my face. “You do know that father is going to demand you make this right, right?”

Zann only lifts a brow.

He must know what I’m talking about.

“He’s going to demand you enter a contract with Xoe… probably a long, recurring one, too. Until you’ve made amends with her senator father by binding our two families together through you siring a child on her. Maybe more than one. They may even make you keep going until she bears you a daughter.”

Zann’s face goes so pale, I swear it’s like I’ve just told him he’s being shipped off to war.

Chapter 26 – Niska

It’s been two days since we arrived on Xaavia, and unfortunately, I’ve not seen a whole lot of Kiahn. Apparently he’s been busy with his princely duties – duties that now include making sure his brother, Zann doesn’t try to flee the planet. The king did not stay long, and I’m not going to be so arrogant as to claim that I understand the dynamic between him and his sons, but to say there is a certain kind of strain between them would be an understatement.

He had been polite to Jaya, Lois and I at dinner that evening, but had left soon after. In truth, he’d seemed more interested in the prospect that my contract with Kiahn will pave the way for future contracts with Xaviann women who can help strengthen relationships between the various principalities than anything else.

Which… I guess was the whole point of me agreeing to this whole thing. That’s what I signed up to when Lady Zalora and Vel explained their plan before they bought my freedom.

Kiahn had gripped his fancy golden dinner-spork tightly in a fist while his father had been talking about which lucky female he should be considering next, though. So maybe he’s not so open to the idea of further contracts as everyone claims he should be?

Is it wrong that I find comfort in that?

“Are either of you at the center yet?!” Lois calls from somewhere else in the palace hedge maze. Vel had given us a very brief tour of the various palace gardens and terraces yesterday but we’d made her promise to bring us back to the maze today for some fun. Xaviann mazes are not too dissimilar to ones back on Earth, except the shrubbery is super tall to account for Xaviann height, and the neat, topiary hedging is a deep plum purple instead of the usual green.

“No!” I shout back. “I think I got turned around. I’m pretty sure I’m heading in the wrong direction completely!”

It doesn’t matter, though. It’s all part of the fun and I know I’ll get there eventually.

“Maybe splitting up wasn’t a good idea!” a voice pipes up, sounding further away.

“Where’s your sense of competition, Jaya?!” Lois shouts back, teasing, her words almost echoing.

But then it’s quiet again, and I decide to try and head toward where I think Jaya might be. I take a left, then a right, and come to a dead-end. Ok, not this way, then. Backtracking, I take a left and then another left when I could have carried on straight. Two more rights and I’m confronted with another dead-end. Sighing, I turn around and jump out of my skin to come face-to-face with Kiahn.

Well… more like face-to-chest, considering.

“Shit!” I curse. “Don’t sneak up on me like that!”

“Apologies,” he chuckles, his hand gripping my elbow to stop me from falling flat on my ass from his sudden appearance. “Are you enjoying the maze?”

I catch my breath, willing my heart to slow with a palm on my chest. “Well, I was, until you abracadabra-ed your way into it!”

Kiahn tilts his head like a curious Labrador, and I realize he probably doesn’t know what that means.

“How did you find me?”

He grins and gestures for me to follow him. I do, curiously, almost colliding into his huge frame when he stops suddenly and points at the hedge beside him. “You see how this section is ever so slightly lighter in color compared to the rest?”

Now it’s my turn to tilt my head like a curious dog as I squint at the shrubbery. “I guess?”

Kiahn’s smile grows wider, and without answering he just… walks straight through that part of the hedge. And I don’t mean that he pushed the densely-grown branches aside, and forced his way through the bush. I mean, it’s like that part of the hedge isn’t really there and he… walked right through.

“What in the Platform-nine-and-three-quarters?” I mutter to myself, getting a closer look. Reaching out, I ghost my fingers across the small leaves of the hedge and feel nothing at all. The bush kind of shimmers a little if you focus on it. Pushing my hand forward, I hold my breath as my arm disappears into the maze.

I feel Kiahn’s warm hand engulf mine on the other side, and for a second I think he’s going to tug me through the hedge. But he doesn’t. He just waits. Holding my hand.

Once I step through, I’m greeted with another beaming smile. A girl could get lost in a smile like that.

“C’mon,” he says, jerking his head toward the hedge in front of us. “It’s a clear path through these to get back out of the maze.”

Snorting, I shake my head. “That’s cheating, you know?”

Kiahn throws a glance at me over his shoulder before he disappears once more. “Zann had secretly requested these from our groundsmales when we were younger and much more competitive,” he says, gently guiding me through not-hedge to not-hedge. “It took Az and I longer than I would like to admit to work out how he always beat us both to the center every time. Az even memorized the correct pathway down to every little turn.”

“Yeah, and the little fucker was still there waiting for me with a shit-eating grin.”

We’d reached the outside of the maze and here Az is, ready to join the conversation like he’d always been a part of it. He’s stood there shirtless and sweaty, which seems to be a normal occurrence for him. Vel said something about him training with his team and coach this morning. Lois had pretended not to hear, but I’m pretty sure she was paying attention.

“Big brother,” Az greets Kiahn, making a mock salute before he turns to me and bows properly, his tone a little softer. “Lovely Niska… Is… is Lois… in there?” he asks, his voice a little higher as he gestures with his thumb toward the maze.

“Oh, yeah, I should probably shout and tell the girls that I’m not in there anymore or they’ll-”

“I’ll tell her,” Az is quick to interrupt. “I’ll-I’ll find Lois and tell her,” he says before quickly disappearing through the purple bush.

“And Jaya!” I call after him, smiling when I hear that his response of ‘I’m on it’ already sounds a good distance away.

Turning to Kiahn, my heart stutters in my chest. He’s so handsome. And I don’t just mean ‘handsome for an alien’, which is a pretty arrogant line of thinking for any species – like humans are any kind of authority on beauty standards? But I’m an authority on what gets me going, and I can’t deny that Prince Kiahn fits the mold that I didn’t even know existed. His green eyes are dazzling and kind, while everything else from his cool gray skin, his spiraling horns, huge stature and those fangs that I know he possesses all hint at a certain danger and dominance that speaks to my girly parts in a way that surprises me.

It’s only when his smile falters a little that I realize I’ve been standing here, smiling up at Kiahn as I studied his beauty like a lovesick puppy. And, that he’d said something to me. What had he said?

Kiahn starts to rub at his right horn – a gesture I’ve come realize Xavianns do when they’re a little self-conscious or unsure.

And now I feel doubly bad for standing here gawking at the big guy without actually listening to him.

“I’m sorry, what did you say?” I ask, reaching out and placing my hand on his forearm in apology.

Kiahn’s eyes drop to the touch and his hand falls from his horn. “I-uh… I have a gift for you.”

“You do?”

He swallows and nods. The way this guy can talk me through an orgasm while he finger-fucks me out in the open on his balcony – with his guards right there – and also look so abashed about a gift is really doing it for me right now. The duality of a Xaviann man, I guess.

“Thank you, I’m sure I’ll love it,” I smile up at him, trying to keep my mind out of the gutter.

Kiahn clears his throat as he briefly glances down to my neck, and then offers his arm.

* * *

“This is your bride collar.”

I stand there, blinking in the dim room. There’s one shaft of brightness coming from an overhead spotlight that floats a few feet over a plinth. And on that plinth rests a red velvet pillow. And propped on that pillow, sits a very impressive piece of golden jewelry.

It looks like it belongs in a museum. Not just by the way it’s reverently presented, but just by how… opulent it is. The collar is made from gleaming gold with a base of intricate filigree-like patterns. And it’s adorned with jewels that look nothing like the rubies and emeralds of Earth. Some look like they hold shards of rainbows, and others seem to change color right before my eyes. The whole thing looks somehow both dainty in design and bold in size. The bottom of it dips to a widow’s peak-type of point that will rest right at the base of my throat between my clavicle. And from that point, hangs the biggest jewel of them all; a teardrop shaped clear stone that sparkles more than any diamond could ever dream to.

“I…” Kiahn starts, rubbing at his horn again. “Do you like it? We can make alterations if you don’t. It should fit you perfectly. I insisted that the collarsmith triple-check your measurements since she’s used to making collars for Xaviann brides.”

“It’s beautiful,” I breathe out, taking a step closer and then walking around the plinth in absolute awe. “It’s…” I look up to Kiahn over the collar now between us. “This can’t possibly be for me. This looks like something a queen would wear.”

Kiahn’s hand falls from his horn and he gives me a lop-sided smile. “I hate to break it to you, Niska, but-” he holds up a finger and twirls it around, indicating at… everything. “… well, you’re a Xaviann prince’s bride, and will be treated accordingly. This is for you. This is yours to show everyone that you are mine.” My eyes leave the gorgeous piece of jewelry to meet with Kiahn’s across the plinth. He clears his throat before adding, “… for a time, at least.”

We’re both quiet after that. Maintaining eye contact seems ‘too much’ somehow, so I go back to assessing the collar, admiring the play of light on the jewel-encrusted piece.

And this is mine.

I mean… it’s as equally stunning as it is ostentatious.

I will feel like a queen wearing something like that. But I’ll also feel like someone with a giant, neon, flashing sign announcing very publicly that I’ve agreed to be fucked by the prince.

And a small, deranged part of me finds a thrill in that.

Hesitantly, I reach out, brushing my fingertips over the details of the piece. It really is a work of art, and it feels like I’ve been granted access to the crown jewels or something equally precious. My touch barely ghosts over the cut stone that looks like the most dazzling opal you’ve ever seen, and instantly the thing starts to glow, lighting up from within. Pulling back, my breath hitches. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a pretty jewel.
