SOUNDTRACK

As always, I like to include a list of what I listened to while writing this book … you might like these songs, too, and I think they represent certain aspects of Jess’s world very well. A little punk-folk, a little raw Celtic, a little steampunk … an unusual mix, even for me. I hope you enjoy the songs, and remember, support the artists by buying (and not just downloading) the music. Artists need support. And rent money.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Thank you to my early readers, especially Carrie and Sarah, who made me dig so deep into Jess’s world.

Thanks to the audiences who sat through early readings when I was trying to capture ideas too big to put into my words.

Most of all, thanks to those who work daily to put words in the hands of those who crave them: librarians, teachers, booksellers and writers.

You don’t just make the world better.

You make the world.

We hope you enjoyed this book.

About the Author

RACHEL CAINE is the author of over thirty novels, including the bestselling Morganville Vampires series. She was born at White Sands Missile Range, which people who know her say explains a lot. She has been an accountant, an insurance investigator and a professional musician, and has played with such musical legends as Henry Mancini, Peter Nero and John Williams. She and her husband, fantasy artist R. Cat Conrad, live in Texas with their iguana Pop-eye, a mali uromastyx named (appropriately) O’Malley, and a leopard tortoise named Shelley (for the poet, of course).
